Piaget: Timeless Craftsmanship, Bold Elegance

Piaget is a name synonymous with unparalleled artistry and innovation in the world of luxury watchmaking. Since its inception in 1874, the Swiss watch maison has redefined the boundaries of precision and elegance, becoming a prestigious symbol of haute horlogerie.

Piaget is particularly renowned for its mastery of ultra-thin movements, setting records with the Calibre 9P in 1957 and the Calibre 12P, the world’s thinnest automatic movement, in 1960. These timepieces reflect the brand’s commitment to exquisite craftsmanship, precision, and timeless design.

At Piaget, luxury is not just in the mechanics but also in the aesthetics. The brand beautifully merges watchmaking expertise with jewelry artistry, producing watches that feature brilliant-cut diamonds and intricate in-house calibers. Iconic collections like the Altiplano, known for its minimalist, ultra-thin design, and the Polo, with its signature cushion-shaped dial, continue to captivate discerning collectors.

Piaget’s journey, shaped by generations of the Piaget family, has transformed the brand from a movement manufacturer to a global creator of luxury wristwatches and jewelry brand. Each Piaget creation is a testament to its rich heritage and dedication to crafting masterpieces that embody timeless elegance.

Piaget History

Founded in 1874 by Georges-Édouard Piaget in La Côte-aux-Fées, Switzerland, Piaget started as a family business focused on creating high-precision, thinnest movements. By the 1940s, the brand transitioned from merely supplying movements to creating its own luxurious timepieces, marking the start of Piaget's journey as a symbol of innovation and refinement in watchmaking.

Piaget's reputation soared in the 1950s with the introduction of ultra-thin movements, notably the Calibre 9P, which was a 2mm hand-wound marvel. This marked the beginning of Piaget’s specialization in crafting slim, elegant watches that would set new industry standards. Throughout the 1960s, Piaget became the preferred watchmaker for celebrities, releasing iconic pieces adorned with semi-precious stones and intricate designs, favored by figures like Elizabeth Taylor and Andy Warhol.

In the 1970s, Piaget's Polo line helped the brand navigate the Quartz Crisis, merging luxury and sport. Piaget's mastery of both horology and jewelry continues to this day, with their experimental Altiplano Ultimate Concept watch setting records as one of the thinnest watches ever produced.
