Audemars Piguet: Iconic Elegance Redefined

Audemars Piguet is synonymous with exceptional timepieces that blend movement and design innovations. The Royal Oak, with its iconic octagonal bezel and “tapisserie” dial, is a testament to the brand's dedication to pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking.

For over a century, Audemars Piguet has stood out among luxury watchmakers for its uncompromising approach to fine watchmaking. The brand’s commitment to excellence is evident in every detail, from the intricate movements to the exquisite finishing.

What sets Audemars Piguet apart is its relentless pursuit of innovation combined with a deep respect for craftsmanship. Whether it’s the revolutionary tourbillon, the complex perpetual calendar, or the melodic minute repeater, each timepiece is a reflection of the brand’s heritage and vision.

Audemars Piguet History

Founded in 1875 by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland, Audemars Piguet has a rich heritage in horology. The company's focus has always been on producing high-quality, complicated watches and has become synonymous with exceptional horology. Nestled in Le Brassus, this revered brand is part of the esteemed "Holy Trinity" of Swiss watchmaking, renowned for its intricate complications and impeccable finishing.

In 1892, Audemars Piguet created the first minute-repeating movement for wristwatches, marking their early commitment to innovation. The duo then unveiled their first Grand Complication pocket watch in 1899, which boasted an impressive array of features including a minute repeater, alarm, perpetual calendar, deadbeat seconds, chronograph, and split-seconds hand.

By 1915, they introduced the Grand Complication with 400 parts and became the smallest five-minute repeater in the world.

Throughout the 20th century, Audemars Piguet continued to innovate. In 1972, they launched the Royal Oak, designed by Gérald Genta. This model was groundbreaking as the first luxury sports watch made from steel, featuring a distinctive octagonal bezel and an integrated bracelet. The Royal Oak became the cornerstone of the brand, symbolizing their ability to blend traditional watchmaking with modern design.

In the 1980s, the company introduced the ultra-thin automatic tourbillon watch, further showcasing their expertise in creating sophisticated timepieces. In 1993, Audemars Piguet released the Royal Oak Offshore, a more robust version of the Royal Oak, cementing their reputation in sports watches.

Maintaining their independence, Audemars Piguet remains family-owned, with the founding families actively involved in its operations. This blend of tradition, innovation, and family stewardship has solidified Audemars Piguet's status in the pantheon of high-end watchmaking.
